The abundance of wildlife and the peace and tranquility
of Mokolodi makes the park an ideal holiday destination for those
who want a vacation with a difference. Four chalets located close
to a water hole provide a perfect holiday haven. Visitors can
stay at Mokolodi at any time of year. Sensibly-priced accommodation
is provided at the self-catering chalets and the recently-opened
camping facility. Guests are welcome to stay for a single night
or for longer periods. Four secluded chalets nestle on a kopjie
(rocky outcrop) overlooking the main waterhole in the heart of
the Reserve. They are well spaced out to ensure privacy and, as
the road to the chalets is not open to other visitors, you can
be assured of perfect peace and quiet. Each chalet is constructed
in traditional style, the thatched roof providing warmth in winter
and a cool retreat in the summer. The accommodation features comfortable
beds, solar-powered lights, hot and cold running water, flush
toilets, and a well-equipped kitchen with cooker and fridge. Each
of the eight camping sites is so secluded that you would think
you had the place to yourself. You can bring your own equipment
or stay at one of the fully-equipped sites. Where else could you
expect to find your own flushing toilet, a hot shower, and even
a kitchen sink!
Directions to accommodation
Being so close to Gaborone, the capital of Botswana,
Mokolodi Nature Reserve is very easy to find.Drive south from
Gaborone on the road to Lobatse (A1) and turn right about 10 minutes
after the Kgale Hill circle (roundabout). Be careful that you
don't take the first turning on the right signposted to Mokolodi
village. If you find that you're slowing down for channels in
the road (the opposite of speed humps) then you've taken the wrong
turning. The road to the nature reserve has speed humps. As the
road goes no further than the nature reserve, keep going up the
hill until you reach the park gates.
