General Features and Facilities

Centre Court
This 2698m² venue is perfect for exhibitions, product launches, large corporate dinners or music concerts and can accommodate up to 3000 people in cinema style seating or 1500 people in banquet style seating. The roof height of this venue is an important feature allowing for exhibition stands and comprehensive lighting and sound rigs.

North Wing
A 1 656m² convention room which can be sub-divided into six separate rooms and can accommodate up to 2000 delegates in theatre style or 1200 delegates in banquet style. The Assembly Room is an ideal venue for banquets, weddings, conferences and seminars. The entire venue, including the meeting rooms, is equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment including multi-media capabilities and flexible lighting designed to suit your needs.

South Wing
The Negotiating Council Chamber
The historic venue that hosted the multi-party negotiating talks which led to the birth of a democratic South Africa. A 459m² convention room with a beautiful, classic interior that can accommodate up to 400 delegates in theatre style.

Senate Room I
A 395m² convention room which can accommodate up to 340 delegates in theatre style. This room can be combined with Senate Room II for increased capacity.

A 459 m² convention room which can accommodate up to 400 delegates in theatre style.

Breakaway Rooms
Emperors Palace offers fully equipped, executive style breakaway rooms namely Augustus, Claudius, Romanus and Tiberius. These rooms are ideal for think tanks or planning sessions in a conference or workshop environment.

Classic and Family Rooms
The Metcourt Laurel offers 56 twin-bedded rooms, 5 king-bedded Classic Rooms and 16 Family Rooms(Deluxe). The rooms are furnished with two upholstered armchairs, a coffee table and a large desk. The en-suite bathrooms have showers over the bath, and dressing area is equipped with a handbasin in a marble vanity. The family rooms, which have inter-leading doors to other family rooms if required. Rooms have a king-size bed, two twin beds and two handbasins set into the spacious vanity.

Presidential Suites
The two premier suites: the Aventine and Palatine, each offer of king-size beds.The Aventine and Palatine have a guest toilet off the entrance hall, a lounge with a four-seater couch, two large armchairs and a desk and an adjacent dining seat four people. Off the bedroom is a spacious dressing area which leads into a bathroom with a separate shower cubicle, a separate toilet and two basins set into an elegant marble vanity.

The Capitoline Suite
The presidential Capitoline suite offer a choice of two twin and a King-Size bed. It also has a guest toilet leading off the marble entrance hall, which leads through to the duck egg-blue carpet of the elegant lounge. Seating is provided by two large settes and three wing back chairs upholstered in cream damask and grouped around a coffee table. A television is on a half-moon table against one wall, and on another hangs a large mirror in heavy gilt frame.To the left is the dining room with six chairs around a table inlaid with red leather. On one side stand two wingback chairs with another chair behind a large desk. As well as an en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath. On the other side of the lounge is the en-suite main bedroom with a large ottoman at the foot of a king-size bed. The room is furnished with two armchairs, another television and music centre.A walk-through dressing area leads into the bathroom which has a separate shower, two basins set in a long vanity and an oval bath There is a separate toilet, bidet and wash basin. Beyond the main bedroom lies the second en-suite bedroom with its twin beds, armchair and free-standing wardrobes.

From Pretoria - Take the R21 towards Johannesburg International Airport. At the airport, the road splits - keep to the left lane and follow the R21 East Rand/Boksburg lane. Follow the road until you reach Griffiths Road off-ramp, turn left at the top of the bridge. At the T-junction, turn left into Jones Road. Entrance to EMPERORS PALACE is on your left. Follow the directional signage to the Metcourt Laurel hotel.

From Sandton North Areas - Take the N3 towards Germiston. At Giloolly’s interchange, take the R24 towards Johannesburg International Airport. At the airport, the road splits - keep to the left lane and follow the R21 East Rand/Boksburg lane. Follow the road until you reach Griffiths Road off -ramp, turn left at the top of the bridge. At the T-junction, turn left into Jones Road. Entrance to EMPERORS PALACE is on your left. Follow the directional signage to the Metcourt Laurel hotel.
