Conference Venue - Tladi Lodge (
Conference Venues in Sandton, Gauteng, South Africa )
Tladi Lodge is a sprawling thatched guest house set on 2 acres of well
tended tranquil gardens with a tennis court and a swimming pool. Ian and
Sylvia have created an elegant yet relaxed ambience, perfect for the business
executive, conference delegate or leisure traveller. Stylish bedrooms
welcome you with complimentary sherry, luxurious down duvets, quality
linen and bath robes to snuggle into. Full breakfasts are served in front
of a fire in winter and on the patio in summer. "Kuphumla Nathi" (Xhosa)
means 'with us you are going to rest', which is epitomized by the country
atmosphere, so appreciated by our guests, who also enjoy the convenience
of being very close to the Sandton central business district. The name
Tladi Lodge comes from the ancient traditions of the Sotho people of Gauteng,
amongst whom the "Milky Way" is known as molala-tladi, "the roosting place
of the tladi bird." Tladi himself was the African equivalent of the Thunderbird,
the bringer of lightning and the Sotho believe that the molala-tladi "supports
the sky to prevent it from falling on the earth." (Vanishing Cultures
of Africa).
