Located in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve of South Africa, Tau Game Lodge is only 3.5 hours from Johannesburg by road or 50 min by plane. The lodge and the 30 rustic thatched chalets overlook a natural waterhole, which attracts a wide variety of game, including the Big 5, cheetah, black rhino and wild dog. The entire lodge has recently been renovated and redecorated and offers luxury accommodation as well as excellent views of animals approaching the water from the opposite bank. Each chalet is equipped with both air-conditioning and ceiling fans, its own wooden deck, en suite bathroom and open-air shower.

Direction to Accommodation

Directions (shortcut)
- Travel to Fourways shopping centre via Rivonia or N1 South take direction Hartbeespoort Dam keep on going straight and then turn left onto the N14 Highway in direction Krugersdorp.
- Travel Southwest for a while.
- At the four-way stop, turn right onto the N14 towards Ventersdorp.
- At the T-Junction turn right into direction “Ventersdorp / Hekpoort.
- The road then splits again, take the left fork – direction Ventersdorp.
- Follow this direction for sometime until you arrive at a 4-way junction, turn right in direction Rustenburg.
- Pass the town Magaliesburg and take the left fork in the road, the R509 to Boons and Derby (-+53km)
- Proceed through to Derby, towards koster (-+17 Km)
- In Koster, turn right towards Swartruggens (R509 for 34Km).
- Turn Left onto the N4 Swartruggens, Groot Marico and Zeerust. This is a Toll-road (R 45.- per car)
- In Zeerust, turn Right into President Street (First National Bank) onto the R47 to Gaborone.Travel to the Kopfontein Border post, bypassing 2 gates to Madikwe Game Reserve. Turn right onto the sand road (Direction Derdepoort) just before the border post and follow the road for approximately 10km to Tau Lodge Gate (on the right). Drive through to the Lodge.

- Tau Game Lodge is a two-hour drive from Sun City and 28km from Gaborone Airport in Botswana.
