A secure lodge in Port Edward on the famous Natal South Coast. Situated on the renowned Old Pont Road leading to the Umtamvuna River. De Novo Lodge is located in idyllic subtropical surroundings with lush vegetation.
This gives the lodge a unique, scenic and untouched nature. A wide variety of bird life is found here and this makes the area a bird lover's paradise. The park like gardens gives a restful and serene atmosphere.
There is a fresh water swimming pool on the grounds and lots of room for the kids to play. Colourful flowers and cycads are just some for the flora on the grounds. The grounds are neat and paved around the units and 24 hour security patrols as well as a sophisticated alarm system take the worry away. The braai facilities are available to all guests. A toilet and change room/shower close to the swimming pool has been provided for the convenience of the guests. De Novo Lodge boasts 5 units that sleep 4 persons per unit. The units are fully equipped with all the modern conveniences.
Unit 1
A complete 4 sleeper, self catering unit with front and back door entrances, consisting of 2 bedrooms, lounge/kitchenette and en- suite bathroom. There is a fridge/freezer, 2 plate stove/oven, kettle, microwave, toaster, cutlery and crockery.
The 1st bedroom is furnished with 2 single or 1 double bed(s) (please request your preference), as well as a remote controlled air conditioner. The 2nd bedroom consists of a double bunker and spacious wardrobes. A shower, basin and toilet completes the bathroom.
The lounge is fitted with a remote controlled TV and comfortable cane furniture. Linen is supplied and you only need to bring your own towels and toiletries. The unit is fitted with a separate security system.
Unit 2
A self catering unit with both front and back entrances. This unit has a private patio.
1 bedroom with 2 single beds, a remote controlled air conditioner and spacious wardrobes with en-suite bathroom with a shower installed. The lounge has a fold out sleeper couch that sleeps 2 people.
The kitchenette is fitted with a fridge/freezer, 2 plate stove with extractor fan, kettle, microwave, toaster, cutlery and crockery for 4 people.
Linen is supplied and you only need to bring your own towels and toiletries.
The unit is fitted with a separate security system.
Unit 3
Self catering unit with front and back entrances. This unit has a private patio.
One bedroom unit with 2 single or 1 double bed(s), (please request your preference), a remote controlled air conditioner and spacious wardrobes with en-suite bathroom with a shower installed.
The lounge has a fold out sleeper couch that can sleep 2 people and a remote controlled TV.

Unit 4
Bachelor Flat. The main bedroom is equipped with 2 single beds.
The 2nd bedroom is fitted with 2 single beds. Each room is fitted with a remote controlled TV, small fridge, closet, basin, writing table and, roof fan.
Linen is supplied and you only need to bring your own towels and toiletries. The bathroom consists of a shower, toilet and basin. The 2 rooms share a security system.
Unit 5
This is a self catering private unit. This unit is placed separate from the other units and closer to the swimming pool.
A sunken bedroom that houses 2 bunker beds with generous wardrobe space.
The lounge is fitted with a sleeper couch, ceiling fan and TV.
The kitchenette is fitted with a fridge/freezer, 2 plate stove/oven, kettle, toaster, microwave, cutlery and crockery for 4 persons.
Bathroom consists of a shower, toilet and basin.
There is shady parking close to the unit and has a private braai facility.
Directions to accommodation
FROM DURBAN: Take the South Coast Highway to Margate. You have to
pass through the Port Shepstone Tolgate if you do not use the Alternative
route.
This road changes to the R61 just past Margate/Ramsgate at the Southbroom
trafic lights.
Continue on this road until you get the PORT EDWARD TRAFIC LIGHTS.
At the lights turn right and then directly left. This road makes a sharp
turn to the right about 500m after the left turn. Keep following this road
until you get the Banners Rest Bottle Store on your right.
Directly accross from the bottlestore you will find a road turning to the
left. Turn into this road. This road is OLD PONT ROAD.
We are 1.1km down Old Pont Rd on your right. (There is a big white board
with our name and a pink flower on it, on the sidewalk.)
Please ring the "lodge" bell at the black gate.
