The Manderson opened in October 1996 and was a finalist in the 1998,1999 and 2001 AA/SAA Accommodation Awards Country Retreat Hotel Category, February 1998 winner Sanlam/SBDC Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Eastern Cape and is listed in the AA guide's as a Highly recommended Property and in the selected member's STAY guide.

Situated at the base of the Amatola mountains of South Africa, overlooking the Kologha Forest, The Manderson offers fourteen tastefully decorated bedrooms and three junior suites and a one bedroom cottage all en-suite with separate bath and walk in shower.

Set in beautiful gardens, The Manderson is ideal for small weddings, receptions and cocktail parties. Other services and amenities of the accommodation include laundry and valet services, box lunches and picnic baskets, spouses programme for conference delegates, baby cots and baby sitting, small playground, pets by arrangement, all credit cards accepted and open and covered parking in a safe country setting.

Our neighbour has recently completed the building of a beautiful, intimate and unique chapel on the property
below us. Perfectly situated for a small wedding ceremony followed by a celebration at The Manderson.

Within a few minutes drive is the Kolagha picnic area, the start of relaxing walks for the family in the Amatola Mountains including fern falls, and trails for the more experienced hiker. The Stutterheim Country club offers one of the nicest country 9 hole courses in South Africa with alternate tees for 18, tennis and squash courts and is close to the Stutterheim Bowling Club with 4 rinks. Horseback riding can also be arranged.

Venturing 20 minutes further, Gubu Dam offers superb trout angling and a picturesque picnic spot and Wriggleswade Dam water skiing and sailing as well as excellent birding and fishing with bass, eel and yellow fish in the Kubusie River

Dutch and German is spoken.
