Nestled in the exclusive Sandhurst suburb of Sandton,

serene setting of SAXON to edit his autobiography "Long walk
to Freedom"
Despite being embedded in the city of gold, a place most known
for it's frenetic pace and mining town mentality, there lies a
scenic jewel surrounded by lush landscape gardens called SAXON.
With it's extensive use of water, it naturally lends itself as
a reprieve from the daily stresses of major corporate deals and
the hectic pace of city living.
The lattice shuttered suites, cool terraces and shaded gazebos
adjoining both the heated lap pool and magnificent 920 square
metre swimming pool, enhance the fully supervised gymnasium, steam
rooms and Essence Skin and Body Salon. The restaurant offers a

Directions to accommodation
DIRECTIONS FROM JOHANNESBURG INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT TO THE SAXON.
1. As you leave Johannesburg International airport, keep on the
far RIGHT HAND SIDE of the main exit carriageway.
2. Follow the overhead sign marked R24 - JOHANNESBURG
3. You will merge with the N12 highway, traveling west.
4. Approaching the N12/N3 interchange, follow the overhead sign
marked N3 (N1) PRETORIA. DO NOT TAKE THE SIGN MARKED JOHANNESBURG
5. You will now be traveling NORTH along the N3 highway.
AT THIS POINT, YOU CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN 2 ROUTES
Route option 1 - MOST DIRECT ROUTE
1. Take the first offramp marked LINKSFIELD RD.
2. Turn RIGHT at the traffic lights into LINKSFIELD RD.
3. At the 2nd set of traffic lights, turn RIGHT into CLUB ROAD.
4. At the 1st set of traffic lights, cross over GEORGE ROAD. Follow
CLUB ROAD where the name will change to SWEMMER RD, then AVON
RD, then NORTHFIELF then ATHOL, then WOODYATT, then PRETORIA and
finally GLENHOVE.
5. GLENHOVE RD will cross over the M1 highway. After crossing
the highway, you will pass one set of traffic lights.
6. At the 2nd set of traffic lights, turn RIGHT into OXFORD ROAD.
7. Travelling along OXFORD RAOD you will pass through the suburb
of Rosebank.
8. OXFORD ROAD will become RIVONIA ROAD as you approach the Sandton
area. Keep on the LEFT HAND SIDE OF RIVONIA ROAD.
9. At the main intersection of RIVONIA ROAD and SANDTON DRIVE,
you will see a large electronic signboard and the SANDTON CITY
SHOPPING MALL. Turn LEFT at the traffic lights, into SANDTON DRIVE.
10. Keep on the LEFT HAND SIDE of SANDTON DRIVE. At the 2nd set
of traffic lights, turn LEFT into COMARTIE DRIVE.
11. At the T-JUNCTION, turn RIGHT into SAXON ROAD.
12. The Saxon is clearly marked on the LEFT HAND SIDE of SAXON
ROAD
Route option 2 - LONGER HIGHWAY ROUTE
1. You will pass the following overhead signs: LINKSFIED RD, MODDERFONTEIN
RD, LONDON RD, MARLBORO DRIVE.
2. As you approach the interchange follow the sign marked M1 JOHANNESBURG.
3. You will now be traveling SOUTH on the M1 motorway.
4. You will pass the following overhead signs: WOODMEAD, MARLBORO
DRIVE.
5. Take the GRAYSTON DRIVE offramp.
6. Turn RIGHT at the traffic lights
7. Move over to the LEFT HAND SIDE of the carriageway, and follow
the KATHERINE STR overhead sign down to the set of traffic lights.
8. Turn LEFT into KATHERINE STR
9. After 4 sets of traffic lights, KATHERINE STR curves sharply
to the RIGHT to meet with RIVONIA ROAD at a set of traffic lights.
Cross over RIVONIA ROAD into SANDTON DRIVE.
10. Keep on the LEFT HAND SIDE of SANDTON DRIVE. At the 2nd set
of traffic lights, turn LEFT into COMARTIE DRIVE.
11. At the T-JUNCTION, turn RIGHT into SAXON ROAD.
12. The Saxon is clearly marked on the LEFT HAND SIDE of SAXON
ROAD
DIRECTIONS FROM THE SAXON TO
JOHANNESBURG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
On leaving The Saxon, please set your odometer to zero. We have
included odometer readings at each decision point to assist with
the route.
1. Turn right into SAXON RD
2. Take the first road left into COMARTIE RD 0.3km
3. At the traffic lights, turn RIGHT into WILLIAM NICL DRIVE 0.8km
4. Turn RIGHT at the next set of traffic lights, into SANDTON
DRIVE 1.6km
5. After 2 sets of traffic lights, you will reach the intersection
of RIVONIA RD 4.2km and SANDTON DRIVE, where Sandton City will
be on your left.
AT THIS POINT, YOU CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN 2 ROUTES
MOST DIRECT ROUTE
1. Turn RIGHT into RIVONIA RD
2. Travel along RIVONIA RD, passing 6 sets of traffic lights.
The name of the road becomes OXFORD RD. The road will split -
keep to the RIGHT HAND SIDE. 6.5km
3. Travelling along OXFORD RD. You will pass through the suburb
of Rosebank.
4. Turn left at the main intersection of GLENHOVE RD/BOLTON RD
and OXFORD RD. 9.2km
5. Once in GLENHOVE RD, you will pass over the M1 motorway.
6. shortly After the highway, you will cross over a set of traffic
lights. GLENHOVE RD will become PRETORIA AVE.
7. At the bottom of a dip in the road, there will be a fork. Take
the RIGHT HAND FORK, where the road name will change to WOODYATT,
and then ATHOLL RD, crossing 3 traffic circles.
8. At the traffic lights, cross over LOUIS BOTHA AVE. 12.2km
9. The road will fork again - keep to the RIGHT HAND SIDE. 14.1km
10. The road name will change to NORTHFIELD, then AVON, then SWEMMER.
11. As you approach the main intersection of GEORGE and swemmer,
keep in the middle lane. After crossing the traffic lights, the
road becomes CLUB RD.
12. At the first set of traffic lights, turn LEFT into LINKSFIELD
RD. Once in LINKSFIELD RD, keep in the middle lane. 17.2km
13. At the 3rd set of traffic lights, turn LEFT onto the highway.
The blue sign will indicate N3 GERMISTON. DO NOT TAKE THE SIGN
MARKED N12 JOHANNESBURG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
14. Keep on the far LEFT HAND SIDE of the highway, and takethe
interchange sign marked N12/R24 - JOHANNESBURG INTERNATIONAL
The airport sign will direct you on to the last highway change
the R24. As you approach Johannesburg International Airport, take
careful note and follow the signs marked INTERNATIONAL DEPARTURES
or DOMESTIC DEPARTURES. 32.3km (short route) 42.4km (long route)

LONGER HIGHWAY ROUTE
1. Cross over RIVONIA RD, where SANDTON DRIVE becomes KATHERINE
DRIVE and curves to the left.
2. You will cross 4 sets of traffic lights.
3. You will approach an overhead motorway. Turn RIGHT st the 2nd
set of traffic lights, underneath the motorway, into GRAYSTON
DRIVE. 6.5km
4. Keep on the far LEFT HAND SIDE of GRAYSTON DRIVE and follow
the blue sign indicating M1 NORTH, onto the M1 highway.
5. Travel along the highway, passing the following overhead signs:
MARLBORO, WOODMEAD.
6. Look out for the interchange signboard after the WOODMEAD offramp.
Take the offramp indicated by N3 GERMISTON.
7. Travelling along the N3 highway, you will pass the following
overhead signs: MARLBORO, LONDON RD, MODDERFONTEIN RD, and LINKSFIELD
DRIVE.
8. After the LINKSFIELD sign, you will reach another interchange.
At this point the signs to the airport will be clearly marked.
9. Take the sign marked N12 - JOHANNESBURG AIRPORT.
The airport sign will direct you on to the last highway change
the R24. As you approach Johannesburg International Airport, take
careful note and follow the signs marked INTERNATIONAL DEPARTURES
or DOMESTIC DEPARTURES. 32.3km (short route) 42.4km (long route)
