If you are looking for private, secluded and pet friendly accommodation, within an hour’s drive from Johannesburg or Pretoria, you will find STONE HILL nestled among the hills of the Magaliesberg.
Situated on a private bushveld farm and perched high above the distant village of Magaliesburg, Stone Hill offers high quality, pet friendly accommodation in 6 top class, fully equipped and luxurious self catering timber cottages, accommodating from 2 to 8 guests each. All have open plan lounges, fully equipped kitchens, bedrooms and full bathrooms. Each cottage is fenced, has a large verandah and braai area and each is spaced far apart from the next cottage and is completely private.
In winter we keep you comfortable, warm and cozy with electric blankets and indoor log fireplaces!
Stone Hill offers high end Magaliesburg Self Catering accommodation. Stone Hill is family and pet friendly and we welcome children of all ages and all breeds of house trained and socialized dogs and other pets. Each cottage and its garden is entirely encompassed by a fence for your pet’s peace of mind! The small splash pool is within easy reach of the cottages and the view down the valley is breathtaking. There is DSTV in all of the cottages.
For the romantics, the Jacaranda Garden Suite, is in a separate wing next to the main house, accommodating a maximum of 2 guests. Only small / medium dogs are permitted. Newly renovated for self catering, the option of bed & breakfast can be pre-arranged.
We have introduced a 5 km walking trail where you can fully experience the peace and tranquility of the veld in the Magaliesberg and your dog/s can run unleashed. There are concrete benches along the way for the weary to catch their breath and experience the views over Magaliesburg! Please remember to pack water bowls and drinks for the walk! Pet owners must please remember to keep rabies injections up to date and that pets are medicated for ticks and fleas before coming to Stone Hill.
There is a wide variety of indigenous small game and birdlife in the Magaliesberg. A number of sightings include Jackal, Duiker, Warthog, Porcupine, Snakes, Ticks, Scorpions, Bats, Vultures and a large variety of insects and birds. You need to walk carefully and quietly to see them as they are notoriously shy! For the flora lovers, a mosaic of indigenous plants can be seen at Stone Hill.

- From Johannesburg travel west towards Krugersdorp N14
- From Pretoria take N14 towards Krugersdorp
- At robots on N14 intersection, take the Ventersdorp N14 road
- Travel for 10,5 kms to a T-junction
- Turn right onto R563 Hekpoort
- Travel 11 kms, turn left at R24 Magaliesburg/Maropeng sign
- Drive 11 kms to a stop sign
- Turn right on R24 towards Rustenburg
- Drive 2kms until you cross Magalies river
- Start indicating to right and turn right at large concrete NiMag Group sign, Small Stone Hill sign below
- Follow road around behind factory, following Stone Hill signs - see map (inset)
- Stone Hill is 2 km off the tar road on a concrete strip road
