Accommodation Venue - Watervale Lodge ( Bed and Breakfast, Guest Houses Accommodation in Inchanga / Durban
/ South Africa )
Watervale Lodge provides accommodation and delicious
home-cooked meals in a tranquil, secure, and beautiful country setting in
Inchanga, halfway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, - close to
Hammersdale, Cato Ridge, Camperdown, Drummond, Botha's Hill, Valley of
1000 Hills, Assegay, Shongweni, Hillcrest, Kloof, Gillits, Pinetown, etc.
The comfortable en-suite rooms inside the Main Lodge and the outside
en-suite rooms, as well as the log cabins with separate ablutions, carry the
flavour of Africa, and are located in a quiet and beautiful African setting.
Backpackers and Campers are welcome and can camp in the grassy areas close
to the log cabins and ablutions or anywhere else on the 25ha surrounding the
Lodge, all of which are surrounded by an electric fence.
Wake up in the morning to the sounds of the abundant bird life and take a
walk in the grounds where you may be lucky enough to encounter some of the
small wildlife at Watervale, such as Oribi, Duiker, monkeys, guinea fowl and
many different varieties of bird. A few Hamerkop families have made
Watervale their home.
The more energetic at heart can take a leisurely walk up the valley, to take
in the stunning views from the 850m high crest whilst also enjoying the
fascinating flora and fauna en route.
Delicious breakfasts and home-made meals are served in the dining room and
pub or, if you prefer and the weather is good, outside on the patio, or in
the outside pub area in the fresh country air.
Various sporting and leisure activites are available in the surrounding
area.
Half an hour to the beach, 20 mins to Pavilion Shopping Mall, 25 mins to
Durban/PMBurg.
Watervale is situated about three kms from Inchanga Station, home of the
famous Steam Rail Route. Exciting historic rail trips can be undertaken and
flea markets are held, with vendors selling all sorts of interesting crafts
and wares, mainly hand made.
A stone's throw away, visitors will find the Valley of a Thousand
Hills Route, along which the well known Comrades Marathon is run. It is
one of the most picturesque drives in the world and is just 5 mins away from
Watervale Lodge. It is in these hills where Zulu people still live in their
traditional huts. The views are breathtaking to be savoured slowly.
The route comprises, besides magical views and plenty of restaurants, Arts &
Crafts shops, with plenty of African crafts, cultural, rural villages, a
safari park, crocodile park, snake park and other general shops.
A number of beautiful game reserves are also located within 20 mins drive of
Watervale Lodge.
Durban, with its exciting new beach front and harbour/waterfront
attractions, is a mere 25 mins along the N3 freeway, with historic
Pietermaritzburg also 25 minutes away in the opposite direction.
