This beautiful private reserve has Natural Heritage Status and
is situated in the pristine rolling hills of Northern Zululand.
(3km from Ithala Game Reserve - malaria free area) iGwala gwala
offers spectacular scenery, a secluded bush lodge, gourmet meals
and exciting activities - EXCLUSIVE TO ONE GROUP AT A TIME!
You can get the entire reserve just for you and your party of
up to 10 people! Our secluded Lodge is rustic, charming, built
of natural rock and thatch, and is tucked away in the valley next
to a stream.
The reserve features amazing bio-diversity with 224 species of
birds recorded in only 3 days! The mammals found here include
most of the antelope species, the ocasional leopard and lots of
smaller cats.
Activities include abseiling, horse riding, fishing (bring own
gear), self-guided hiking, bush drives, the `sundowner cruise`,
visits to iron age rock engravings and game drives at Ithala Game
Reserve. You can also arrange for a demonstation of some of the
most dangerous Southern African snake species!

LOOK FOR VRYHEID, PONGOLA AND/OR ITHALA GAME RESERVE
0N A MAP OF
ZULULAND, KWAZULU-NATAL, SOUTH AFRICA. FROM THERE YOU SHOULD BE
ABLE TO FIND
US FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS.
On the R69 between Vryheid and Pongola, be on the look out for
the Louwsburg
signboard. Take the Louwsburg turn-off and drive through town
following the
Ithala Game Reserve directional signs. As you exit Louwsburg you'll
start
travelling down a winding little road - this means you're very
close and
iGwala gwala is on your right-hand side. You'll see buildings
below to the
right, and you should turn right into the 1st gate. Look for a
board
displaying our name - this is our main entrance. Enter the reserve
and drive
up to the house/reception area where management will welcome you.
PLEASE NOTE! The roads are bad! In dry conditions a 2X4 bakkie
(pick-up) will make it to the lodge. After / during rain however,
the Lodge
is only accessible by 4X4. WE'LL PROVIDE YOU WITH TRANSFERS TO
AND FROM THE
LODGE IF NEEDED. OUR OPEN-TOP LAND CRUISER MAKES EVERY TRIP A
