="Kwa Langa", meaning "Home in
the Sun", is a magnificent 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom property
(Sleeps 12) situated in the village of
Pennington on South Africa's Indian Ocean coast, just 40 minutes
drive from the airport on the unspoilt south coast of KwaZulu
Natal. With ocean views from the upstairs bar and balcony, only
30 metres off Pennington's idyllic long sandy beach, this is a
unique opportunity to relax in quiet and beautiful surroundings
and yet be no more than a short drive away from unparalleled sporting,
sightseeing and wildlife attractions.The house is open plan with
all 5 bedrooms located on the ground floor around a large central
living area. There are private gardens to the front and rear,
a spacious braai terrace area and a private swimming pool. The
property is very secluded on a quiet beachside cul-de-sac, and
has recently been fully renovated to now offer luxury accommodation
of the very highest standards, including:
- Brand new fully equipped kitchen and utility area
- Large main living area incorporating dining area with a 10 seater
dining table, lounge area with three sofas and equipped with TV,
DVD, satellite TV and music system
- Three double bedrooms with queen size beds, two with en-suite
shower rooms, all with French doors leading out to the garden
or terrace areas
- A fourth double bedroom with twin single beds
- A fifth bedroom with two sets of bunk-beds
- Two family bathrooms with separate walk-in showers
- Stairs leading up to a large first floor bar complete with fridge,
sofas, and a 25 sq.metre deck looking out onto the front garden
with ocean view.
The house has tiled floors throughout, ceiling fans in all rooms,
an outside shower to wash away the sand and sea salt, outside
tables, chairs, large umbrellas and sun-loungers, and is fitted
with a state-of-the-art alarm system with remote front gate and
Chubb emergency response. There is ample parking space within
the secure perimeter of the property.All bed linen is provided,
and child cots and high chairs are also available on request.
A general maid service is provided once a week on a Thursday (7:30am
- 3pm) with a full clean on departure.
Local amenities :
A large supermarket and shopping centre are 10 minutes drive away
on the outskirts of Scottburgh, which is the nearest small town
with all normal facilities. Within 2 minutes walk from the house
is a tearoom selling a few basic necessities, and in the centre
of Pennington village are a number of small shops for essentials,
and a beach café. There is also a natural salt water rock
pool ideal for kiddies. The beach is expansive and most often
completely unspoilt and unpopulated by anyone other than yourselves
and the odd local residents walking their dogs.
Nearby attractions :
A mere 3 minutes drive from the house lies Selborne Golf and Country
Club, the home of one of the finest championship golf courses
in South Africa set in stunning countryside with views over the
ocean. The club also has a full health spa and a fine restaurant
and bar. Spear-fishing; fishing; sardine run and dolphin watching
all 30m away right on the beach in front of the house.

Directions to accommodation
Take the N2 autoroute south from central Durban/Durban International
Airport (the South Coast Road). After approximately 25/30 mins
from the airport you pass the Scottburgh turnoff, and after a
further 3km turn off at the exit sign-posted Pennington. Turn
left at the junction
heading towards the sea for 1km until you reach a four-way junction
at which you turn right onto the R102 Old Main South Coast Road
and keep going for approx. 9km. Just before you reach the sign
for the turning into central Pennington, turn left off the R102
into Dolphin Drive. At the T-junction turn right, proceed down
the hill and then bear left. Follow the road over a small bridge
until at the end you reach the T-junction with Salmon Drive. Turn
left and KwaLanga (No.35) is on the left facing the ocean.
