Before the turn of the century, the lure of gold
brought men from all corners of the world to Southern Africa.
Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, author of the animal classic, Jock of the
bushveld was one of these. They passed through some of Africa’s
most scenic untamed wilderness. It is in this area that Jock Safari
Lodge is based with our southern boundary being the old wagon
route from Delgoa Bay into the gold fields of the interior. Today
the wilderness experience we offer is unchanged from these early
times. It is in an area noted for its diversity in game, particularly
the BIG FIVE. This luxurious lodge is situated in the southern
area of the KNP at the confluence of the Mitomeni and Biyamiti
rivers, half way between Skukuza and Malelane airports. It is
approximately 35 km to both airports with only 3km of dirt road.
Magnificent trees and an abundance of bird life surround the Lodge.
From here our two track roads take you into 6000 ha of exclusive
traversing in the first private concession set in over 2 million
hectares of KNP. . The lodge is easily accessible by road, just
over 5 hours drive from Johannesburg, or 1 hour either Skukuza
or Malelane airports. Your expectations of comfort and quality
will be exceeded at Jock Safari Lodge & Little Jock. At the
main camp, 12 Luxury air conditioned suites offer guests the unique
opportunity to experience the gracious style of old world elegance
surrounded by unspoilt wilderness. Each suite has a private “Sala”
(outdoor lounge) that overlooks the river. The romantic bathrooms
and outdoor showers share the same river view and sightings of
animals, including the BIG FIVE can be seen from the comfort &
privacy of your own room. Each suite has a King size bed surrounded
by walk-in mosquito netting, a small lounge and twin basin bathroom.
Your private terrace has its own plunge pool and a wooden walkway
to a lapa overlooking the riverbed. Little Jock is a stand alone
lodge situated just a kilometre from the main Jock Safari Lodge.
With only 3 suites, Little Jock ensures that personal service
is always a priority for the lodge’s friendly staff. Each
of the 3 luxurious suites is equipped with their own public areas
and amenities, including both indoor and outdoor showers. While
the dining and entertainment area offer both alfresco and indoor
dining facilities allowing guests the unique opportunity to experience
the gracious style of old world elegance surrounded by unspoilt
wilderness. Friendly and professional staff will cater for all
guests requirements from specialised game drives or game walks
- with every sound, scent, footprint or broken blade of grass
– as sign waiting to be interpreted and understood.
Accommodation
This luxury lodge incorporates the romance and elegance
of the past colonial era, and reflects in its unique style the
indigenous Zulu and Shangaan cultures. Twelve luxury air conditioned
suites, each with their own private sala overlook the river as
do the romantic bathrooms and outdoor showers.
Sightings of animals including the BIG FIVE can be seen while
relaxing around the rock pool or from the comfort and privacy
of your own room.
At Jock we offer an African cuisine which incorporates an abundance
of flavours accumulated on the routes followed by sir Percy Fitzpatrick.
The head chef of Jock and her passionate team conjure up dishes
of legendary proportions, allowing your taste buds to follow their
own African journey.
The cuisine is presented in a variety of locations. From Silver
service in the elegant dining room, to an eating adventure under
the panorama of the African night.

Directions to accommodation
Jock Safari Lodge is situated in the southern area of
the Kruger National Park at the confluence of the Mitomeni and
Biyamiti rivers, Jock is halfway between Skukuza and Malelane
airports which is used for charter flights and about 100 km from
Kruger Mpumalanga International airport.
The lodge is surrounded by magnificent trees and an abundance
of bird life. From here our two track roads take you into 6000
hectares of exclusive traversing in the first private concession
set in over two million hectares or 20 000 Square Kilometers of
the Kruger National Park.
From Johannesburg:
Take the N12 to Witbank. This becomes the N4. Follow the N4 through
Nelspruit and Malelane until you see the Malelane Gate Kruger
Park sign, where you turn left. Follow the Malelane Gate / Skukuza
road. The camp is signposted off this road.
Distance from JHB: +/- 458km
From Pretoria:
Take the N4 and follow directions above.
Note:
The camp is situated half way between Skukuza and Malelane gates
approximately 35 kilometers in both directions with only three
kilometers of dirt road.
