Camping and Caravanning ( Youth hostels/backpackers
Accommodation in Haenertsburg / Limpopo / South Africa )
There are 12 camping sites, which are about 10m
x 10m & each site is clearly demarcated by drainage with each
site clearly numbered.
Each site has its own braai area with a light that can be switched
on and off by yourself so that you can see your meat and what
you are doing on the braai table. Underneath the braai table is
a spot where you can put your braai wood or charcoal and big black
dustpan right next door. There is also a spot in the camping area
where there is a supply of cut up fire wood that if needed can
be bought at R10/lug box. The female section of the ablution facilities
has a shower with a glass pivot door and a changing area and 2
toilets. The basins are modern with
mirrors above each basin and a water tight plug point with a mirror
just above the plug. The males section is exactly the same as
above except that there is a urinal included. All the floors in
the ablution block and kitchen are tiled with black slate tiles.
Each site has their own socket outlets and is protected by it's
own 15 amp circuit breaker with an earth leakage (as required
by law). Each site also has it's own tap for drinking water etc.
but not for washing oily items as that is what the kitchen is
for. There is a central area to do the dish washing etc., with
a fridge/freezer, urn, x2 toaster, two plate stove and a table
top for a working area. There are also electric points in this
central working area. The camping area is lit up with lights at
about every second site making it a little more homely and visible. If
any of you are fishermen you are welcome to fish for Trout on
the one dam (which is just below the campsite) or Currper on the
other dam which are on the farm. The cost to fish (catch and release)is
R25/rod/day and to hire a rod is R50/day. If you want to take
the Trout you must pay R45/kg.There is also a Sauna close to the
ablution facility.
Directions to accommodation
When you leave Johannesburg you will be going on the N1 to Pieterburg/Polokwane.
About 10km before you get to Polokwane you take the
bypass to Tzaneen. You drive for about 15km through one traffic
light and then one four way stop street and the next traffic light
you are to turn
Right to Tzaneen and Haenertsburg. About 55km from Polokwane you
will get to the very small village of Haenertsburg. Be very carefully
because if you blink you might miss it. From the three way stop
at Haenertsburg you just carry on going straight on the R71 for
another 16km. When you get to the Magoebaskloof Farm Stall we
are just 1,5km further down the pass. Please drive slowly as our
turn off is on a corner where you are to turn Right between two
big yellow flag poles. From there you just follow the well marked
sign for 1.5km to the Reception where you will collect your envelope
with the cottage keys. Please do drive safely and have a fabulous
journey.
