We are Cees Bakker and Corina van der Laan, both born in The Netherlands and proud owners of Bakkers B&B.
Since our first visit to South Africa in 1998 we fell in love with this country, and in 2006 we decided to start our own Bed and Breakfast in Phalaborwa
Bed & Breakfast offers you the following accommodations and facillities :
* 2 private units for 2 persons each, with en-suite bathroom ( shower and toilet ).
* 2 double bedrooms (one with King Size bed and one with two single beds) with shared bathroom/shower/toilet.
* All rooms have air-conditioning and ceiling fans.
* Both units have a coffee and tea tray.
* swimming pool.
* private and safe parking.
* There are no pets in Bakkers B&B, and no pets from guest will be allowed.
* Lunch and dinner available by prior arrangement, or you can go to one of the restaurants in Phalaborwa. Information about the restaurants in Phalaborwa is available in the information folder in each room, and we would be happy to give you advice.

Directions to accommodation
To Phalaborwa by car:
Phalaborwa is a 5 hours drive away from from Johannesburg, with several possible routes.
N4 via Lydenburg and the Panorama Route or
N1 via Pietersburg, Magoebaskloof and Tzaneen
Avoid driving after dark and be aware of people and animals on the road
( even the highways )
Most of the roads are in a good shape, but there are exceptions. ( the R36 for example is not well maintenanced in some places, keep an eye on the road signs !! ) Not all the roads are highways so travel times and distances can be different then in your home country.
You can also use the daily direct flight connection between Johannesburg and Phalaborwa airport by Sa Airlink.
Route from Johannesburg via the Panorama Route ( 500 Km )
At the airport follow the R21 from the car rental to Boksburg / Johannesburg (keep right ) Take the N12 exit to Benoni / Witbank and follow the N4 to Belfast.
At the end of the highway go left to Belfast, in Belfast take the R540 via Dullstroom to Lydenburg. In Lydenburg you can follow the green signs R37 to Orighstad / Graskop and Phalaborwa. This will lead you to the R36 to Orighstad
( watch out for potholes in the road after Orighstad ) via the Abel Erasmus Pass and the Strydom tunnel.
About 15 Km after the Strydom tunnel take the R36 turn to Tzaneen.
After 10 Km take the R526 to Phalaborwa / Mica, then on the R40 to Mica turn left to Phalaborwa.
Follow this road to the end, then go right on the R71 to Phalaborwa
Direct route from Johannesburg to Phalaborwa ( 550 Km )
At the Airport follow the R21 to Pretoria, and then the N1 to Pretoria / Pietersburg.
( this road can be extremely busy in the morning! )
From Pietersburg take the R71 to Magoebaskloof and Tzaneen.
Then follow the R71 via Gravelotte to Phalaborwa.
In Phalaborwa:
Go left at the first four way stop. Go right at the second turnoff (Grey). Follow the road, around the koppie into visarend and take the first road to your right.
You are in Starling Street and will find Bakkers Bed and Breakfast after about
100 m on your right side
