Palmiet Valley Estate nestles at the foot of the
Drakenstein Mountains near Paarl. Built in 1692, this historic
homestead has been carefully restored to its former Cape Dutch
glory.
The spacious environment of Paarl and the Klein Drakenstein region
bears as much natural beauty, peace and tranquillity as fertile
cultivation's of grapes, fruits and opportunities for all kinds
of outdoor activities.
From the large terrace and pool, guests may enjoy views over
the valley and surrounding winelands, against a backdrop of magnificent
mountains.
Nestled at the foot of the Drakenstein Mountains, we are just
thirty minutes away from Cape Town, the 'jewel ' of Africa's cities.
The estate is surrounded by a wealth of outdoor activities, including
championship golf courses – the closest is just 5 minutes
away. A few hundred meters behind our vineyards one finds the
Drakenstein Mountain Reserve, a stunning mountain side beholding
a fast variety of species of South Africa's national Protea flower,
wild olives, aloes as well as rare birds, baboon monkeys and mountain
bocks. There's also the opportunity for breathtaking mountain
walking, clay pigeon shooting and horseback riding. And of course,
as you would expect, wine tasting that suits the most discerning
of connoisseurs! The world famous wine estate of Nederburg is
our neighbour and another 20 wine cellars open to the public are
closeby.
No expense has been spared in restoring the traditional historic
thatched Manor House, originally build by Huguenot settlers in
1692, to its former glory. The finest antiques from all over the
world have been selected to transport our guests back through
the centuries and different époques of art. It goes without
saying that each room has its own luxurious bathroom, a comfort
not enjoyed by the original owners!
Palmiet Valley offers peace and tranquillity for a maximum of
sixteen guests who demand the best things in life. Our Master
Chef takes pride in creating delicious farm fresh daily menus
that are served with pleasure in the 18th Century Fine Dining
Room, in the cool shade beneath the Jacaranda or on the Herb Garden
Terrace. Our cellar boasts an extensive selection of the best
wines of the region, as well as the fine Chardonnay, Cabernet
Sauvignon, Chenin, Shiraz and Merlot wines produced on the estate.
